The editorial project presents an investigation of architecture as an island—an in-between space of threshold and relation. It explores the transformation of the landscape, where boundaries, structures, and interactions are redefined to respond to the fluidity of contemporary times. Through texts, projects, and critical reflections, the island emerges not only as a geographical figure but as a metaphor for architecture conceived as a poetic and political device—capable of questioning instability, transience, and adaptability. The volume brings together a series of contributions that address insularity as both an existential condition and a design strategy, opening up new possibilities for relationships between space, environment, and society. The volume was selected for the Italian Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
